At the Alzheimer's Association, we not only serve people living with Alzheimer's disease or another dementia — we also offer much-needed support to those providing their unpaid care.
Caregivers need care, too: Nearly 70% report feeling stressed when coordinating care. These are husbands and wives, daughters and sons, sisters and brothers, grandchildren and friends.
We hear every day how our work supports caregivers and provides them with help and hope. One of our steadfast volunteers, Julie, knows firsthand how difficult caregiving can be, and she's thankful for how the Association has been there for her:
"When my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, I was just 29 years old. It turned my world upside down."
"The Association offered me support as a caregiver when I needed it most and I am so grateful… That's why I made the decision to give back and become a volunteer. Now I get to help other caregivers like me overcome challenges and promote healthy habits to everyone — because we're all at risk."
When you join this special match challenge, your first gift will be put to work immediately to fuel dementia research and provide reliable resources for families and caregivers like Julie, such as:
Our free 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900), staffed with master's-level clinicians.
ALZConnected®, an online community where anyone impacted by Alzheimer's can share concerns and offer support — so that no one has to feel alone.
On behalf of the millions of loved ones who provide unpaid care to those living with Alzheimer's or another dementia, thank you for stepping up with your first gift today. Every step we take together — all the care and support we provide and every new research effort we fund — brings us closer to the day when Alzheimer's becomes history.
With thanks,
