Apart from funding sex change operations in Guatemala and promoting the expansion of atheism in Nepal, the U.S. Agency for International Development found itself in hot water for propping up leftist media publications using tens of millions of taxpayer dollars.

Thanks to the work of Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency, President Trump signed an order to terminate every government-media contract. Now, these fugazi, propaganda-spewing media outlets are realizing they can no longer keep their doors open without the support of our tax dollars.

This investigation made me ask: Does the State of Texas have any similar programs?

Unfortunately, the answer to that question is “yes.”

Last week, Texas Scorecard discovered [[link removed]] that state agencies had given at least $6.7 million to various news media operations, including hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars to explicitly left-leaning entities like the Texas Tribune, the Austin Chronicle, and Quorum Report.

Should Gov. Abbott follow Trump and put an end to taxpayer-funded news outlets? Many people would say yes.

You can’t trust a watchdog who was trained and fed by burglars. The same goes for media operations relying on tax subsidies.

Government-subsidized media has proven time and time again to malign the foundational principles of liberty upon which our nation was built, opting instead to promote far-left, Marxist worldviews.
