We need your help NOW to save
40-plus families in Imperial Beach from being unjustly kicked out of
their homes!
Early Thursday morning, ACCE San
Diego leaders and tenants at the Swell Apartment complex showed up at
the offices of DMJ Equity LLC to protest pending evictions for
“substantial repairs.” DMJ Equity is threatening to evict all 40
families at the Swell to take advantage of a loophole in state law
that allows no-fault evictions for “substantial remodel.” But we know
that corporate landlords like DMJ often use this loophole- or
“renovictions”- as a way to evict tenants and re-lease units at
higher, often unaffordable, rents.
DMJ is about to throw dozens of
families out onto the streets just so they can profit off the backs of
our most vulnerable communities. Please take a minute
to call the CEO of DMJ Equity, Doug Ceresia, at 619-630-4554 ext.
2002, and leave a message telling him to STOP the evictions of the
Swell families immediately!
The City of Imperial Beach
has so far failed to ban the
no-fault evictions for “substantial remodel” loophole, which has only
emboldened corporate landlords like DMJ Equity to price gouge and
leave tenants and their families vulnerable to housing insecurity and
homelessness. So now it is up to us. Until the Imperial Beach City Council does
the right thing, we can’t let DMJ Equity use false pretense to abuse
the law and intimidate tenants
who have paid their rent on time and satisfied the terms of their
lease just so they can unjustly raise rents. Call Doug
Ceresia TODAY at 619-630-4554 ext. 2002, and demand he stop the
evictions NOW!

¡Necesitamos tu ayuda AHORA para
salvar a más de 40 familias en Imperial Beach de ser expulsadas
injustamente de sus hogares!
Temprano el jueves por la mañana,
los líderes de ACCE San Diego y los inquilinos del complejo de
