We are marking almost a decade since we lost our loved ones at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High.

Dear friend,

Tomorrow marks seven years since a violent tragedy changed our lives and our community forever.

Our children, spouses, siblings, and friends were taken from us in an act of unthinkable violence. The pain of that day never fades. We carry it with us always—in the empty chairs at our tables, in the birthdays left uncelebrated, in the love we still feel but can no longer share.

But love is also what keeps us going.

For seven years, we have refused to let grief be the end of our story. We have worked—together—to make our nation’s schools safer, to hold leaders accountable, and to ensure that no family has to endure the loss we have suffered.

Because of this effort—because of you—we have made real, lasting change:

Expanded the impact of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, ensuring funding reaches schools to improve campus security, student mental health, and responsible firearm policies.

Championed stronger school safety laws in Florida and across the country, including expanding parental rights to notification of school threats through our Parents Need to Know initiative.

Worked with both the Biden and Trump administrations to secure federal action on school safety, including the creation and codification of SchoolSafety.gov, providing essential resources to educators and communities.

Advocated for additional funding and legislation in 2024 and 2025 to improve mental health support, emergency response training, and firearm safety measures in schools nationwide.

But we are not done. Not even close.

Today, we are asking you to take action. Contact your representatives at every level of government—local, state, and federal. Tell them that school safety must be a priority. Demand action.

DEMAND ACTION →

Call. Email. Show up. Your voice matters. Change happens when people refuse to accept inaction as the norm.

Nothing will bring our loved ones back. But together, we can honor them by building a future where no family has to know this pain.

Thank you for standing with us.
