Last week, some news broke after we sent this note below on the GOP trying to overturn an election in North Carolina: a state court rejected the Republican candidate’s attempt to invalidate over 60,000 ballots. But this isn’t over. The GOP candidate is still refusing to concede and has appealed the ruling. Here’s A.G. Holder’s take on the ruling and what needs to happen next: “The state trial court treated these hollow anti-democracy claims just as any court must — by rejecting them. North Carolinians have spoken through their legally cast ballots, the votes have been recounted multiple times, the state Board of Elections has rejected these claims, and now a state court has considered the issue in full and done the same. This arrogant and dangerous attempt to circumvent the will of the people must end — now. It is simply time to accept the results of this fair election.” Keep scrolling to read A.G. Holder’s piece in The New York Times for more context on how we got here. And thank you for fighting alongside us to defend free and fair elections in North Carolina and around the country. — NDRC HQ We’ve been raising the alarm about the outrageous events in North Carolina — where a GOP candidate for state supreme court is trying to overturn the election he lost to one of our Democracy Defenders. Our Chairman, Attorney General Eric Holder, just published an op-ed in The New York Times about why every American should be paying attention to this brazen power grab. What’s going on in North Carolina is all part of a broader anti-democracy crusade being waged by Republicans. Thank you for everything you do to fuel our democracy-saving work in North Carolina and around the country — the fight for fair elections and fair maps continues, and we’re grateful to be able to count on your support. We’ll keep you updated on the latest. — Team NDRC
