Hey, John — it’s Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin here!
When we first met, we had no idea we were about to become lifelong friends. Jane had just seen Lily’s one-woman show, Appearing Nitely, in Los Angeles and was completely blown away. She had to meet the woman who had her laughing and thinking all evening.
Jane thought she’d be the one starstruck, but when she walked backstage, Lily was just as surprised.
What started as a moment of mutual respect and admiration grew into a lifelong friendship (we still have the admiration and respect, just to be clear!)

Since then, we’ve shared just about everything — film sets, inside jokes, bad hair days, good wine, and more than a few unforgettable moments. We’ve worked together on films like 9 to 5, 80 for Brady, Moving On, and the hit series Grace and Frankie. Even after all these years, people keep saying, “Wow, you two have such great chemistry.”
Well… yeah. That’s what happens when you genuinely like each other.
But our friendship is more than just laughter (though there’s been a lot of that). It's about showing up. For the big moments, like the Women’s March, protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline, and holding our elected officials accountable for climate inaction. And for the small moments, like a comforting phone call or blowing off steam after a long day. We’ve always been there for each other.
Our friendship has taught us the power of solidarity. We make each other stronger, smarter and braver. We tap each other on the shoulder when either of us need some course-correcting, and most of all, we have each other’s backs.
We're stronger together. That’s exactly what we hope to see more of, and what JanePAC is all about — people uniting, supporting each other, and fighting for a healthy future for everyone, especially in difficult times like these.
This Galentine's Day, we're celebrating the power of friendship and the importance of showing up for what you believe in. Thank you for being part of this movement and for standing with us.
Happy Galentine’s Day!
❤️ Jane & Lily

P.S. If you’d like to honor the power of friendship with purpose, chip in a few dollars to the Jane Fonda Climate PAC. Every bit helps us keep up the fight to elect climate champions in 2025 and beyond.
