John, Like so many of you, I am a sandwich caregiver. For more than three decades combined, I’ve balanced caring for my mother while supporting my college-aged child and working as a Certified Medical Assistant. In many ways, care has always been the central theme in my life.

Caring for my mother and child has been one of the most genuine expressions of love. I believe we should celebrate and uplift this – because care work makes all other work possible.

Will you join me in honoring and celebrating all the care in our lives? Take 3 minutes right now and share a few sentences expressing your love and appreciation for a caregiver or care recipient in your life – it could be your partner, your parents, your children, or even yourself.

I’m deeply grateful for my family, whose love anchors me and has taught me so much about who I am and what matters to me. To myself, I offer grace, knowing we’re all learning and growing together, weaving a tapestry of mutual care, strength, and resilience.

John, share your message to the caregivers and care recipients in your life now.

We’ll be reading some of these messages of gratitude during our upcoming Care Connect Us All Virtual Rally happening next week (more info on that coming soon, so stay tuned!). We want caregivers and care recipients across the country to hear these messages of love and appreciation, because we could all use some positivity and celebration in our lives.

Taking a moment to share a message of appreciation is a simple but powerful way to highlight how care shows up in all of our lives.

Care connects all of us, and we all deserve appreciation. Thank you for all you do for care.

In gratitude,

Anthia Carter, 2024 Care Fellow
