Here’s our powerhouse slate of gubernatorial candidates for 2025 and 2026:
- Deb Haaland (NM): We're excited to announce our recent endorsement of Deb Haaland for governor of New Mexico. A 35th-generation New Mexican and a true trailblazer, Haaland has made history not once but multiple times, from her election to the U.S. House in 2018 to her role as secretary of the interior under President Biden. Now, she's ready to take her leadership to the next level as governor, continuing her advocacy for her community and for the rights of all New Mexicans.
- Rep. Mikie Sherrill (NJ): A former Navy helicopter commander and federal prosecutor, Rep. Sherrill flipped New Jersey's 11th Congressional District in one of the most competitive races of 2018. She's a champion for reproductive health care, fighting to protect Title X funding and health care access for servicewomen and military families. In 2023, she was named the most effective member of New Jersey's congressional delegation – and we know she'll bring that same dedication and hard work to the governor's office.
- Abigail Spanberger (VA): Spanberger is a career-long dedicated public servant, dating back well before she flipped a U.S. House district in 2018. A former federal law enforcement officer and CIA case officer, she's spent her career defending national security and working tirelessly to protect access to health care while combatting extremist right-wing attacks on our rights. Now, she's running for governor to continue her commitment to public service and lead Virginia with integrity and courage.
- Sec. of State Jocelyn Benson (MI): Elected as Michigan's secretary of state in 2018, Sec. Benson has been a steadfast defender of democracy, ensuring secure and accessible elections. She's also worked tirelessly to make government services more efficient and accessible for all Michiganders. EMILYs List has proudly supported her in past elections, and we're honored to do so again in her run for Michigan governor.
