Wow, John.
I called out Elon Musk for swiping $80.5 million from New York City’s bank account, and now he’s Tweeting at me. Rush a contribution of any amount to my campaign right now.
This is not a joke. You can't steal money from NYC taxpayers. We aren't Tesla shareholders.
How exactly did we get here, John?
Early yesterday morning, my Comptroller’s office discovered that $80.5 million in already authorized, allocated, and paid FEMA aid was WIPED from the City's bank account by Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Let's be crystal clear: This is highway robbery. And this is not a joke.
Donald Trump and Musk illegally seized federal funds from New Yorkers. I held an emergency press conference to demand the return of our money.
Then, later on that day at the White House press briefing, reporters asked about the stolen $80.5 million. Trump’s Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt feigned ignorance, saying, “I have not heard about that figure… But I can get the receipts.”
Okay, so let’s see the receipts.
John, Mayor Adams won't fight for our stolen $80.5 million because he's beholden to Trump to drop his criminal charges. I'm already fighting back — and when I'm Mayor, you can count on me to stand up to Elon Musk and Donald Trump every single day.
As your Mayor, I will claw back every single dollar our city has earned in federal funding. And I will call out every last illegal action (and stupid Tweet) the Trump administration sends our way.
They don’t scare me.
Please chip in to help me fight back. You can use this link (and I promise, DOGE won’t steal it): https://secure.actblue.com/donate/bsl-em-feb25?refcode=DOGE
Thank you, and more soon.
