Thank you to those individuals and organizations who spoke up at our Special Council meeting on Monday evening. Sharing your thoughts on what City services are most important helps us develop the FY 2026 Budget. We will have more public hearings and opportunities to share your input. Please continue showing up and making your voices heard.

SAFEGUARD YOUR HOME

The San Diego region is forecasted to have significant rainfall over the next few days, please act with diligence and safeguard your homes, especially if you are in a flood-prone area.

Tips and reminders:

  • Sweep and pick up trash, leaves, grass clippings, and other debris that collect around storm drains and curb gutters near your home.
  • Keep the lids securely closed on trash and recycle bins when placing them out on the street for collection. Place each bin approximately 2 to 3 feet away from the curb so as not to impede the stormwater flowing on the street.
  • Proactively turn off irrigation to save water and minimize runoff.
  • Know the safest routes to and from your home or property should flooding occur.
  • Slow down and do not drive, ride or walk through flood waters.
  • Do not open or lift manhole covers in the event of street flooding.

Report storm-related issues, such as flooding or downed trees via the Get It Done app or by calling 619-527-7500. Sandbags are also available in limited supply. As the sandbags are not pre-filled, please plan to buy sand at local hardware stores or landscape suppliers. District 1 residents can pick up sandbags at the Pacific Beach Recreation Center, 1405 Diamond St.

NORTHERN D1 IS FIRE SAFETY READY

Following our Fire Safety Workshop last Thursday, residents of Carmel Valley, Del Mar Mesa, and Torrey Hills are now Ready, Set, Go! Fire preparedness is crucial to protecting lives, homes, and our communities. With new Fire Safe Councils proposed in these neighborhoods, volunteers will have the opportunity to help their community stay informed and ready. Thank you, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department and Fire Safe Council of San Diego County, for your support in making this happen. Interested in bringing a Fire Safe Council to your neighborhood? We can help you with that.

WILL YOU BE THERE?

Reminder 🚨📢: I will be at the Pacific Beach Library this upcoming Tuesday to reflect on recent accomplishments, share goals for the year ahead, and open the floor for your questions on D1 and city-wide issues. Please RSVP and let us know that you will be there.

TEAM LACAVA OUT IN THE DISTRICT

We love uplifting our D1 small businesses. After Team LaCava flyered Carmel Valley announcing the next neighborhood bulky item pickup, they took a well-deserved moment to bond over pizza at Crust and Brew. Great food, even better company, and a reminder of the importance of supporting our small, locally owned businesses.
