Hey Motherhood Musings family,
It's your friendly neighborhood progressive mom, here. I know it’s been a while since you last heard from me, and I wanted to start by simply saying: I’m sorry for the hiatus. Like many of you, I’ve been taking stock, trying to make sense of what comes next in this new period of, let’s be real, fascism. Millions of us shouted warnings from the rooftops, yet here we are, watching America willingly vote for the lunatic… again .
As an elder millennial, I keep waiting for someone to yell, “April Fools!” but the joke, it seems, is on us—and it’s not funny.
Honestly, I don’t have all the answers. I’m still searching for the exact next steps, not just as a progressive, but as a mom of three little girls who have zero say in the stripping away of their rights with each breath that orange clown takes in office. The election results were a gut punch, a disheartening reminder that our nation isn’t ready to end racism, inequity, or the grip of patriarchy.
But if there’s one thing I know about us—we don’t back down.
Like many of you, I’m grappling with the anger, the heartbreak, the exhaustion. But I also know we have to stand up, shout out, and rage against the machine with every ounce of our being. Yet, here’s something equally vital: our joy, our art, our happiness—they are forms of protest, too.

As we brace ourselves, watching the chaos unfold like a bad soap opera on fast-forward, unsure where to focus our energy from one day to the next, remember this: find your joy . Protect it fiercely. Celebrate it unapologetically. Because in times like these, joy isn’t just resistance—it’s revolutionary.
