John,
I joined CNN on Tuesday to talk about Trump’s attacks on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
It’s total BS for Trump to say that he's getting rid of the CFPB because they engage in fraud, when their entire mission is to fight fraud.
The CFPB was created in 2011 after the mortgage foreclosure crisis to protect consumers. It’s designed to make sure the financial markets–things like car and student loans–don’t take advantage of consumers.
Our whole economy will suffer with the shutdown of the CFPB. Not just consumers, but every business who plays by the rules. Everyone benefits when markets stay strong and consumers aren’t getting cheated.
Thank you,
Katie Porter
