Calling all RGers & Young People with Wealth,
Only three weeks into their term, Donald Trump and Elon Musk are working tirelessly to destroy our communities. They have fired thousands, separated families, and are trying to destabilize the few institutions in this country that are meant to assist working class families. If you are feeling rage and grief, you are not alone. When the ruling class [[link removed]] organizes, they safeguard their power, networks, and assets at the expense of everyone else. This moment is an escalation, not an exception; a fraction of the ultra-wealthy ruling class hoards power, emboldening white supremacy, Christian nationalism, xenophobia, and deepening racial gendered capitalism. As young people with wealth, this administration is causing harm in our name, escalating the violence of a system that directly benefits us and reinforces itself if we are not organizing. We know that authoritarian regimes weaken when wealthy people strategically leverage their relationship to power. Now is the time to confront our class patterns [[link removed]] and commit to fighting alongside the majority.
We hear and share your fear, concern, and rage as we witness and experience attacks on vital care for trans folks, the safety of immigrant communities, the future of Palestinian sovereignty, and the burden of the ever-increasing cost of living for poor and working-class communities. In this moment, we remain clear about the role of young people with wealth and Resource Generation: to build and sustain local communities of care, redistribute our resources to movements led by communities under attack, and organize to challenge state violence.
Though we may feel tempted to distance ourselves from our class identities or retreat into isolation, we must turn toward each other, strengthen our relationships, and commit to building a deeper, more powerful membership community. While the state sets up the wealthiest to get richer, we are writing our own narrative: young people with wealth are fighting for a world where we all have enough.
Join us on Thursday, March 6, from 4–5:30 pm ET/1–2:30 pm PT for “ Political Repression and Donor Courage [[link removed]] ,” a conversation hosted by Resource Generation, Donors of Color Network, Women Donors Network, and Solidaire Network. We’ll explore how we can resource movements through looming repression and hear from donors who are stepping up. Together, we’ll learn how to strategically harness our privilege, fund grassroots power, and protect the organizations challenging authoritarianism. This session will include practical guidance on how to get funds to organizations [[link removed]] that may lose nonprofit status.
Right now, hundreds of thousands of young people with access to wealth are forming their political values and looking for a political home. It's our role to find our people, welcome them into our community, and work to build a world in which communities are powerful, healthy, and living in alignment with the planet—a world in which wealth, land, and power are shared. In the spirit of finding and welcoming young people with wealth into our organizing, we invite you to join us on March 6 [[link removed]] and bring someone you love to the event.
This is our invitation: dig deeper, organize with RG, and claim your place in a legacy of bold class traitorship committed to organizing for a better world.
In solidarity and struggle,
Resource Generation
