An ADL Tip on Antisemitic Threats Leads to an Arrest in Canada
As part of its work to track and disrupt extremism online, the ADL Center on Extremism’s Threat Monitoring Unit (TMU) identified a Canada-based X/Twitter user who had made multiple alarming threats against the Jewish community, included online statements like, “I'M GOING TO KILL SO MANY ZIONIST RATS” and “IN 2 WEEKS, YOU WILL NEVER SMILE, DANCE, OR DO ANYTHING EVER AGAIN,” accompanied by a Star of David emoji.
TMU drafted a law-enforcement alert containing identifying information about the individual behind the account, including a photo. ADL then shared this critical information with the Jewish community and Hamilton Ontario Police.
Police arrested the suspect, charging him with uttering death threats and breaking probation. Just weeks ago, hate crime charges were added to the list of charges which include advocating genocide, willful promotion of hatred and willful promotion of antisemitism.

How Antisemitic False Narratives Spread:
The ADL Center on Extremism has been documenting the tactics deployed by extremists and purveyors of hate to promote false narratives, as well as the harmful impact of conspiracy theories, misinformation and disinformation on communities including Jews, immigrants and other marginalized groups. Three trends we are watching include:
- Using Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) to spread hate and propaganda
- Increased scapegoating of Israel and Zionists since 10/7
- Leveraging social media changes to promote mis- and disinformation

About the Antisemitic ‘Hate Club’ Group:
Hate Club is a white supremacist group founded last year that has held small but highly visible public demonstrations in Cincinnati, Columbus and St. Louis, during which members have violently clashed with counter-protestors, using megaphones to hurl antisemitic and racist slurs as well as other obscenities at community members. The group is recognizable by their distinctive black clothing with red “siege” skull masks, often wielding black flags with red swastikas.
