Crazy idea for Washington Democrats: Maybe we should prioritize deporting fugitives wanted for homicide instead of bending over backward to keep them here?

Democrats Wring Their Hands Over Deportations… Meanwhile, Seattle ICE Nabs a Murderer
A recent article at Cascade PBS is wringing its hands over the Trump administration actually enforcing immigration laws. After signing several executive orders on immigration—including cracking down on criminal illegal immigrants—ICE has ramped up enforcement, leading to mass arrests. Naturally, “advocates” – i.e. Democrats – are in a panic, claiming it’s spreading “fear” instead of what it should be spreading: accountability.
Meanwhile, Sunnyside’s city manager, Mike Gonzalez, is apparently more concerned with providing “know your rights” cards to illegal immigrants than ensuring his police department cooperates with federal law enforcement. The state’s 2019 “Keep Washington Working Act” ensures local law enforcement won’t actively assist ICE—because nothing says “public safety” like making it harder to deport criminals.
But here’s why this matters: ICE Seattle just arrested a Salvadoran fugitive wanted for murder in his home country. Jose Marin-Lozano, who had two outstanding warrants for aggravated homicide, is finally in custody and awaiting deportation. If certain lawmakers had their way, though, criminals like him would get to stay. The state Senate just passed SB 5103, a bill that fast-tracks pardons for illegal immigrants to prevent deportation. Because, apparently, ensuring criminal illegal immigrants stay in the country is a higher priority than protecting the law-abiding public.
The bottom line? ICE is doing its job—removing dangerous individuals and enforcing the law. The only reasonable response here is to let them do it. Read the article at PBS.

Democrats to Homeowners: Pay Up, Peasants
Washington Democrats are back at it, pushing a property tax hike to squeeze even more cash out of struggling homeowners. Their plan? Repeal the 1% cap and jack it up to 3%, because apparently, the record-breaking tax revenue they’re already raking in just isn’t enough. Rep. Gerry Pollet (D-Seattle) insists that without this, schools will crumble and cities won’t be able to afford police—never mind that Democrats’ own policies helped create the crime surge in the first place. Meanwhile, GOP lawmakers are pointing out the obvious: Washingtonians are already drowning in taxes and inflation, and local governments have more money than ever. Even Tim Eyman couldn’t resist mocking the hypocrisy, reminding everyone that these same lawmakers just gave themselves double-digit raises. Oh, and when over 12,000 people sign in against your bill versus 139 in favor, maybe—just maybe—it’s a bad idea. But don’t expect
Democrats to listen; they’ve got more of your paycheck to take. Read more at Center Square.

Washington Democrats: Protecting Criminals, Not Citizens
As Shift mentioned above, Washington Democrats just passed a bill to help criminal illegal immigrants avoid deportation because, apparently, public safety isn’t a priority. Senate Bill 5103, sponsored by Bob Hasegawa (D-Seattle), fast-tracks clemency for those with pending deportation orders—essentially giving criminals a free pass to stay. Hasegawa claims it’s about “saving families and lives,” but in reality, it’s about prioritizing felons over law-abiding Washingtonians. As KTTH’s Jason Rantz points out, Democrats seem incapable of distinguishing between an illegal immigrant who follows the law and one who commits violent crimes—because in their world, all should be protected equally. This move isn’t just reckless; it’s a blatant interference with federal immigration enforcement, all to score woke political points. Meanwhile, Seattle’s left-wing media stays silent, too busy covering for their political
allies. The message from Democrats is clear: cross the border illegally, commit crimes, and Washington will have your back. Read more at KTTH.

Seattle: Taxing Its Way to Economic Ruin—Again
Seattle voters just gave businesses another reason to flee by approving yet another tax on high earners to fund their latest socialist fantasy: “social housing.” Proposition 1A, the winner, slaps a 5% tax on compensation over $1 million, because nothing says “business-friendly” like punishing success. Never mind that the city already has a housing crisis and a dwindling tax base thanks to its anti-business policies—why not double down? Proponents are already gearing up for legal battles, blaming “corporate interests” instead of acknowledging that maybe, just maybe, their policies are driving employers (and jobs) out of Seattle. But hey, when the city inevitably runs out of other people’s money, they can always find something else to tax. Read more at Center Square.

Bob Ferguson’s Moment of Fiscal Sanity—Too Little, Too Late
Credit where it’s due—Ferguson is at least acknowledging the financial mess his party created and is daring to suggest a 6% spending cut. That’s $1.8 billion in savings, which still only chips away at the massive budget shortfall caused by years of reckless Democratic overspending. Agencies are now scrambling to figure out how to make these cuts, though Ferguson hasn’t revealed what will actually get the axe. Meanwhile, public safety is (wisely) exempt, but education and social services might still take a hit—because apparently, even with Democrats’ endless tax hikes, there’s never enough money. It’s refreshing to see a Democrat at least pretend to care about fiscal responsibility, but let’s not forget: this crisis is a direct result of decades of their failed budget policies.
