The administration’s actions to take over Treasury payment systems are a direct threat to the privacy and security of Americans’ most sensitive personal information. Over the past few weeks, we’ve received thousands of calls from folks in the district concerned about Elon Musk and DOGE’s overreach of the Treasury and personal data.

That’s why I’m responding with action.

Last week, I drafted and introduced my original bill–the CLEAR Act (Consistent Legal Expectations and Access to Records Act). This bill will ensure that temporary agencies like DOGE are subject to the same Freedom of Information Act rules as permanent government entities.

The administration’s actions allowing unfettered access to non-government bodies like Elon Musk and DOGE have led to lots of confusion and frustration over the legality of their access. I’m with you. To fully assess that situation and provide proper oversight, we need that information.
