Friend, last week, the Trump administration began locking up migrants at Guantanamo Bay — a site with a well-documented history of abuse and human rights violations. The administration has plans to send up to 30,000 migrants there, with troops already on the ground setting up tents. Guantanamo is a place notoriously associated with war crimes and torture in the post-9/11 era. It’s a legal black hole where detainees may not ever get access to legal representation or due process. Instead of expanding its use, we should be shutting it down.
Congress has the power to stop this. Lawmakers must act now to ensure taxpayer dollars are not used to fund Trump’s mass deportation agenda, which includes illegally imprisoning migrants at Guantanamo. TAKE ACTION NOW: Call on your representatives to reject funding for Trump’s expansion of Guantanamo Bay.
