Fellow activist,
As the Trump administration works to instill fear into our immigrant communities, we are doing everything we can to provide support and civic education about people’s rights. In this time of so much mis and dis-information, it is critical to provide factual, accurate and accessible educational resources to all.
The New PA Project Education Fund is currently working on developing educational resources in both English and Spanish to be distributed on the ground when engaging in conversations with Pennsylvanians. One example that is in production is a “Know Your Rights” informational card that will describe the constitutional rights a person has and what to do if/when they are faced with an ICE agent. With your support, we will be able to create, print and distribute these throughout our centered communities across PA. Will you help fund this project?
Here is an example of what the cards will look like:
You have constitutional rights:
- DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR if an immigration agent is knocking on the door.
- DO NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS from an immigration agent if he or she tries to talk to you. You have the right to remain silent.
- DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING without first talking to a lawyer. You have the right to speak to a lawyer.
- If you are outside your home, ask the officer if you are free to leave and if he or she says yes, leave quietly.
- GIVE THIS CARD TO THE OFFICER. If you are inside your home, show the card out the window or slip it under the door.
Our thoughts are with immigrant communities as Trump deploys ICE to terrorize our neighbors across the country. Help us develop and distribute accessible educational resources to our centered communities by donating $25 or more today → [link removed]
Donations solicited through this request will go directly to developing educational resources.
In this together,
Team NPPEF
