The clock is ticking. The stakes have never been higher. Women—young, old, and every age in between—are under attack.
Just look at Trump’s actions in the very first week of his administration. Four days after the Inauguration—and two days after he pardoned the January 6 rioters—he also pardoned 23 anti-abortion extremists who were in prison for attacking clinics in Washington, DC, Tennessee, New York, Georgia and Michigan. The next day, Trump’s Department of Justice announced curtailment of prosecutions under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act).
In short Trump sent a message aimed at emboldening extremists who seek to block access to essential women’s healthcare facilities. On top of that, the DOJ dismissed criminal cases in Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Ohio against those who had attacked clinics. This is a stark reminder that our opponents are relentless in their efforts to undermine hard-won progress and endanger the lives of women.
Extremists are now moving quickly and ruthlessly. They’re targeting abortion clinics, staff and patients. They’re trying to ban life-saving medications like mifepristone. They’re using violence and intimidation to silence those who fight for justice.
We’ve faced tough battles before. But this time, the threats are fiercer. They’re relentless. They’re far more organized and far, far, far more dangerous.
