This week, we held our first Medicare for All National Strategy Call of 2025 to lay out our plans for the coming months, including how we can fight back against the federal government’s threats to our public health care system while continuing to build support for Medicare for All legislation in Congress.
We heard directly from our very own Cathy Kennedy, RN and president of National Nurses United, our friend and long-time Medicare for All champion Senator Bernie Sanders, Swathi and Shruthi Bhuma from our allies at Physicians for a National Health Plan (PNHP), and Gillian Mason, Executive Director from Healthcare-NOW.
This administration’s proposed cuts to Medicaid, possible further privatization of Medicare, and the defunding of public health services and medical research would be devastating to the health and well-being of people in this country. It has never been more clear that we must mobilize to defeat these profit-driven threats to cut health care from millions of people as we also fight in the longer term to win Medicare for All.
In this critical moment for our movement, the most important thing we can do is unite in action. That’s why we’re working to organize House Parties across the country to bring people from local communities together to oppose these threats to health care and fight for Medicare for All.
These House Parties will become the basis for volunteer-led legislative visits with members of Congress to coincide with the reintroduction of Medicare for All bills into the House and Senate, which we anticipate will happen later this spring.
In the face of these challenges, we the people must step up and take leadership in our communities and this movement. Thank you for anything you can do to support our work and mobilize for the sake of health care justice.
In solidarity,
Nurses’ Campaign to Win Medicare for All
