This week, Trump took to Truth Social to share that he and Russian president Vladimir Putin have agreed to “work together, very closely, including visiting each others Nations,” supposedly to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. Yet we should know better. Ukraine has not yet even been included in these so-called negotiations.

Just like he did in his first term, Donald Trump is allowing himself to be Putin’s puppet. This should terrify us all.

By buddying up with Putin, Trump is departing from years of international policy precedent. It sends the message that America is abandoning Ukraine and ceding ground to Russia.

If Trump allows Russia to have the upper hand, it will give Putin tacit permission to continue his aggression across Europe and will further endanger our own national security.
