John,
Everyone is feeling it. The prices at
the grocery store continue to go up. The car needs to be fixed. The
kids need new shoes. And when you turn on the news, you find out
there’s even more uncertainty in the economy than there was
yesterday.
I know the pain New Yorkers are feeling, and as your
governor, I’m committed to doing something about it.
Earlier
this year, I put forward a plan that will put more money in New
Yorkers’ pockets and help ease the pain they’re feeling under
inflation. If it passes, our plan will:
- Send Inflation Refund checks of up to $500 to 8.6 million
New Yorkers
- Deliver sweeping middle-class tax cuts, cutting
rates to their lowest level in nearly 70 years
- Boost the Child Tax Credit and give parents up to $1,000
per child — triple the current maximum benefit
- Enact free school breakfast and lunch for every
student in New York
- Make community college free for adult learners
looking to go into high-demand fields
- Put New York State on a path to universal child
care
For many New York families, our plan could put $5,000 in
their pockets every year.
I’ve
heard from New Yorkers all across the state about how these policies
will help them, and I want to hear from you:
How
would more money in your pockets make a difference for you and your
family?
I know how tough it can be as a working parent when the bills are
piling up and you just need a break.
You have my word: I’m
going to keep fighting to make it easier for you — and for all New
Yorkers — to get ahead.
Ever Upward,
Gov. Kathy Hochul
