Friends, Republicans in the House passed a Continuing Resolution last night. That’s basically a stopgap funding bill until they can agree on how much money they want to give to billionaires.

They passed that CR, and then they flew the coop. They closed down the House of Representatives on a TUESDAY and went on vacation.

After looking at the CR myself, it’s pretty obvious why they didn’t stick around to answer any questions about it. I’m going to vote against it. Here’s why:

If this gets passed, we’re looking at more than $1 billion in cuts to the Rural Water and Waste Disposal Program. $500 million in cuts to Wildland Firefighter Management. Additional funding cuts to programs our veterans use to get the care they need. It’s a bad bill, period. Worst of all, it gives Elon Musk and his cronies permission to keep firing federal workers and cutting critical programs that we’ve already appropriated funds for.

I can’t stand by that, so I’m voting no. But beyond the vote, what can we do about this?

For me, I’m going to put on townhalls in rural Arizona. These are the reddest parts of my state, and areas that voted against me for the most part. I’m doing it because apparently my Republican colleagues are too afraid to show up and do it themselves.

There are a lot of Veterans in these areas, and you can be sure that I’m going to let them know what Trump, Elon, and the GOP are doing to screw them over.

You have a role in this, too. If you’d like to help me out, please:
