We've reached a boiling point

Hi John,

We've had enough. Just this evening, Donald Trump decided he wanted to take a stroll from the White House to a nearby church for a photo op. While he held up a bible and talked about making America great again, police were teargassing and violently clearing protesters in DC. This is America.

If there was ever a moment for us to mobilize and act, it's now.

Our country is in a dire place and simply urging people to vote is not enough. We must reach out to our neighbors, have tough conversations, and encourage them to get involved ahead of the November election.

I've spent the past few days protesting in support of change for racial justice and investment in Black communities. We must speak out and make our voices heard in this moment, while not losing sight of our urgent, overwhelming need to defeat Donald Trump in November. As President Obama said today "We have to mobilize to raise awareness, and we have to organize and cast our ballots to make sure that we elect candidates who will act on reform."

Yesterday was our first fundraising deadline. Because we decided not to send out emails, we missed our goal. We're in the middle of a crisis but I still need to focus on Vote From Home 2020's mission: Getting mail-in ballot applications to voters in swing states so we can defeat Donald Trump. If you can give, please contribute. If you can't, will you forward this email to a friend to get the word out about our mission to make it easier for swing-state voters to cast their ballots by mail?

Trump is an authoritarian who, just today, threatened to deploy the military to suppress protesters who are calling for racial justice after the murder of George Floyd. It's bad and we still have five months until the election. That time can either be spent frantically reading the news and worrying or organizing to defeat Trump and protect our democracy.

We are still organizing, and still working to make sure vulnerable communities can vote safely this fall. We don't want to take momentum away from the protests and spotlight on racial justice, but we also don't want to lose sight of the up-coming election. Help us stay on track by donating $5, $10, or $25 today so that we can send out mail-in ballot applications to targeted voters in swing states ASAP.

Also, if you just want to talk, feel free to respond to this email. I'll be checking the inbox and working on some projects. We need to connect to one another right now and I'm here.

Thank you and hopefully, together, we can repair our country's wounds. They are growing more severe by the day.

Best,
Suzy Smith
Vote From Home 2020

------------
Vote From Home 2020 is a grassroots movement that's making vote by mail more accessible. With a $25 donation, we'll send vote by mail applications to 20 voters. COVID-19 has brought America to a halt, and with it almost all in-person voter mobilization efforts. While volunteers can’t get on buses to swing states or go door-to-door right now, there is a huge opportunity for progressives, especially in solidly blue states, to get out the vote where it counts. By sending vote by mail ballots to targeted states and following up with text and calls to voters, we can ensure the 2020 general election is safe and accessible. Please forward this email if you know someone who may be interested. Our average gift is just under $25 so consider donating that today to support voting rights.
