Dear Law Center supporters,

We want to extend a huge congratulations to our friends at the Western Regional Advocacy Project (WRAP) on 20 years of advocacy led by and accountable to people living unhoused! For two decades, WRAP has been uplifting the voices of those on the front lines of the fight to end homelessness.

"I’m from Skid Row. The same thing they’re doing to us in Cali, they’re doing to my brothers and sisters in Portland, Texas, all over the country. We can’t fight as one organization, in one city, by ourselves. We gotta come together – that’s called People Power. WRAP brings all our people together to unite the fights. We’ve got a bigger fight, a bigger fist, because of WRAP.”

- General Dogon, Los Angeles Community Action Network (LACAN) Organizer, WRAP founding member

It’s been a privilege for the Law Center to be in this work together with WRAP for years. Just last year, we worked together to coordinate rallies around the Johnson v. Grants Pass case; WRAP turned out thousands of people in 23 cities, while the Law Center convened hundreds on the steps of the Supreme Court in DC, all to demand SCOTUS protect the rights of unhoused people.

Currently, the Law Center and WRAP are working together to develop a legal services model that provides immediate support to unhoused people in the short-term, while building longer-term capacity to dismantle dehumanizing laws and policing practices. Critically, the Legal Defense Clinic (LDC) Project is accountable to people in the streets and emerges from the organizing of those most impacted by unjust laws and practices. This project is part of a larger strategy to end the criminalization of homelessness and ensure housing for all.
