Black lives matter.

Black people will have justice.
Black people will feel safe from harm.
Black people will have equitable health care.
Black people will be valued and protected when --

When we ALL have the courage to show up for Black communities.
When we ALL have the courage to fight white supremacy.
When we ALL have the courage to fight systemic injustices.
When we ALL have the courage to fight for an equitable and representative
democracy.

Systemic racism is a persistent obstacle to the values and vision we have
for our state and democracy; one that envisions California as a model of
progressive, equitable, and representative democracy that sets the
standard for our country.

Our team at Courage California understands our responsibility to lead and
use our voices for the state and nation to achieve real progress. We are
grieving, we are angry, and we will continue to move forward.

We stand with you and will continue to actively bring about change, by
holding our elected officials accountable to say YES to progress and NO to
oppression, and demanding that they LISTEN to the voice of the people.

and in California.

In the words of Toni Morrison, “If you are free, you need to free somebody
else. If you have power, then your job is to empower somebody else.”

In grief, in anger, and in solidarity,

Angela, Anne, Brian, Caitlin, Deepthi, Gabby, Irene, Jay, Lindsay, Molly,
Raquel, and Scottie (the Courage team)

Courage California (formerly Courage Campaign) makes sure our democracy works for ALL of us by fighting corruption in California politics. We believe the solution lies in exposing and solving systemic problems through strategic organizing, enhancing coordination between progressive organizations, and mobilizing civic engagement from our communities, particularly voters of color, young voters, and self-identified progressives.
