Regrettably, the U.S. House of Representatives has voted to extend the Nancy Pelosi/Joe Biden federal budget, for another six months – into September of this year.

But while the clock is ticking, there is still no proposal on the table to make DOGE cuts permanent. There is no rescission package.

Why should anyone believe the Trump administration is serious about cutting the budget when they're pushing for a huge debt limit increase and cutting little?

And all the DOGE cuts are only good for 45 days unless Congress makes them permanent. . . but there is NO rescission package yet.

Senator Rand Paul first informed Elon Musk they could make the DOGE cuts permanent with a rescission package. That was more than a week ago.

Now here we are: a Pelosi budget extension on the table, with NO rescission deal. But it's not too late.

Between now and September, when the next spending bill would be due, the national debt will have increased by another nearly two trillion dollars.

The price of everything from consumer goods to housing prices to insurance remains much higher than before the pandemic.

Already, economists are predicting a recession in the United States.

We are hurtling towards a fiscal cliff, and the big spenders in Washington are stepping on the gas.

We need to demand Republicans apply the brakes and pass a rescission deal NOW before any budget extension is approved.

We can still break the cycle of endless spending. Tell your U.S. Senator to pass a rescission to make the DOGE cuts permanent.

A rescission deal cannot be filibustered in the Senate, so Democrats cannot stop it. This is the way to get cuts and get them done quickly.

By a simple majority in both chambers, we can permanently eliminate the waste and abuse, which then reverts to the Treasury. The process is legally unassailable once enacted, as it involves two branches of government.

Already DOGE has identified $100 billion to cut.

If these cuts are not made permanent – and soon – the spending will resume.

And Congress has just proven it is as feckless as ever when it comes to spending.
