The Golden Age of America is here. I wrote about how President Trump is restoring common sense to America. In Case You Missed it, take a look at my article in the Washington Times below.

Trump restoring common sense to America
By: Rep. Earl L. "Buddy" Carter
The Golden Age is here. In the first joint address to Congress of his second term, President Trump outlined a vision for our nation putting the American people first. What struck me most about his address wasn’t what he said but rather what he had already done to advance the policy priorities on which he campaigned.
After four years of hollow promises, it’s a refreshing, breakneck change of pace to have a president who walks the walk.
He is unleashing American energy dominance by unlocking our full energy potential and bringing down costs for families nationwide. President Biden spiked household costs by banning liquefied natural gas exports, allowing countries such as Russia to flood the market with dirtier, less environmentally friendly products. Under Mr. Trump, the United States is the world’s largest net exporter of natural gas, and we are slashing burdensome “Green New Scam” red tape that prevents energy projects of all kinds from getting off the ground.
Since Inauguration Day, these efforts have resulted in a 5% drop in crude oil prices.
Mr. Trump isn’t stopping when it comes to reversing the economic damage of the Biden-Harris administration. Along with Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, he has implemented a comprehensive plan to bring down the price of eggs, addressing the Bidenflation and bird flu crises that have forced egg prices to reach unaffordable highs. The president also directed the heads of all executive departments and agencies to “deliver emergency price relief … to the American people.”
In addition, he has stopped several Biden-era rules that would have made everyday life less affordable for American workers. If Mr. Biden had his way, air conditioners would be $1,100 more expensive, gas water heaters would be $2,800 more expensive, washers would run an extra $200 and lighting the average home would be a whopping $140 more expensive.
After years of reckless federal spending that skyrocketed inflation, every penny counts — and Mr. Trump is paying attention to the pennies.
Together with Elon Musk, this administration is eliminating waste, fraud and abuse from our government, addressing the $36 trillion in federal debt that is crippling our nation. Already, the efforts of the Department of Government Efficiency have resulted in estimated savings of $105 billion. The waste that DOGE has uncovered is truly stunning. Through the U.S. Agency for International Development alone, the Biden administration obligated $2 million for sex changes and LGBTQ activism in Guatemala, $4.5 million to “combat disinformation” in Kazakhstan, $7.9 million to teach Sri Lankan journalists to avoid “binary-gendered language,” and the list goes on.
While the American people struggled to afford gas and groceries, the radical left sent their hard-earned dollars to fund social pet projects overseas.
The days of unchecked waste are over, as are the days of unchecked illegal immigration.
Despite Mr. Biden’s declaration that he had “done all [he] can do” to secure the border, Mr. Trump began his crackdown on Day 1. Border crossings are among the lowest levels ever recorded, down 96% from the Biden administration’s all-time high. Under the threat of tariffs, Mexico is doing its part by deploying 10,000 troops to the border to combat illegal immigration and the flow of deadly illicit fentanyl.
Unlike Georgia’s U.S. senators, this administration is defending female athletes by ensuring that biological men are not allowed to compete in women’s and girls’ sports, a policy supported by 73% of Georgians.
In less than 100 days, Mr. Trump has delivered on the mandate he received from 77 million Americans to shake up Washington and restore common sense to our government. This address reflected his commitment to working for We, the People.
