John,
Happy Valentine's Day!
Not only is today a chance to celebrate love and friendship, it is also an opportunity to reflect on how we “love our neighbor.”
In a recent letter to U.S. Catholic bishops ([link removed]) about the situation of immigrant people, Pope Francis shared that the "love of neighbor" we are taught about in the Parable of the Good Samaritan is a love that builds community “with no exceptions.”
Saint Ignatius of Loyola, who inspires our work, is often quoted as saying, “Love is shown more in deeds than in words.” With this in mind, I would like to invite you to join me in taking action for “love of neighbor” today by sending a message ([link removed]) to our federally elected officials in Congress and the White House, encouraging them to recognize the dignity of people who migrate ([link removed]) and seek to construct policies that demonstrate a sense of love and compassion. TAKE ACTION NOW ([link removed]) .
Below are additional resources for learning, advocacy, and action on this special day dedicated to love.
Peace,
