[1]Democrats[2]Join us.
It’s been seven years since a shooter took 17 lives at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
In the years since, we’ve organized and built a movement that finally rivals the gun lobby’s power in Washington. We’ve passed historic legislation that has saved lives.
But now that Trump is back in office, the gun lobby is staging a comeback — and it’s up to all of us to stop them.
In Trump’s first few weeks in office, he’s shown he cares more about gun industry profits than Americans’ safety. He disbanded the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. He also ordered a review of gun safety measures the Biden-Harris administration had enacted — including overwhelmingly popular actions that expanded background checks.
Trump and his allies don’t care how widely supported or common sense a law is. They don’t care how many lives it saves if it stops the gun lobby from selling even one more gun.
It took all of us working together for a decade to make federal gun safety legislation a reality in the first place, and it’s going to take all of us fighting back now to prevent the gun lobby from undoing all of our progress — including the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act we passed in 2022. To do it, we’ll need to elect Democrats at every level who are committed to keeping our communities safe.
In 2024, mass shootings and gun deaths fell to their lowest level in five years. That’s a direct result of the changes we made to enact gun safety legislation — and it’s a reminder of the power we have when we fight for one another.
Thank you for staying in this fight with me, and for taking the time to read this message.
Every best wish,
Chris
