Due to former President Biden’s policies, which left the U.S.-Mexico border unprotected, Governor Abbott launched Operation Lone Star to enforce immigration laws and safeguard Texans. The Texas delegation remains united in urging the federal government to reimburse Texas for the infrastructure and investments the state has made in border security.   AGENT RAUL GONZALEZ SAFETY ACT In December 2022, Officer Raul Gonzalez tragically lost his life during a high-speed chase involving illegal immigrants fleeing the scene of a crime near the border. The Agent Raul Gonzalez Safety Act ensures that illegal immigrants who attempt to evade law enforcement in a vehicular pursuit are deemed inadmissible to the United States and subject to removal. I proudly supported this legislation on the floor this week, which sends a clear message that criminal illegal immigrants who endanger officers' lives will face severe consequences.
