Did you hear President Trump's speech?

If you missed it, the President just spoke to reporters from the Rose Garden about the nationwide unrest that is occurring after the death of George Floyd.

He is planning, and I quote, to deploy "thousands and thousands of heavily armed soldiers and law enforcement" to strictly enforce 7 PM curfew in DC. He is doing this, he said, to keep the peace, protect low-income neighborhoods, and stop the riots. He has encouraged all the governors to activate the National Guard in their states.

While I think that he is doing this for the right reasons, I fear the effect will be the exact opposite. I think that this is likely to cause even more unrest, which will result in a harder crackdown by the military, which will result in more unrest...and on and on and on.

We are putting a few more plans into place at my daughter's place to get ready for a hasty evacuation if it's called for, and to batten down the hatches here at the apartment as well. I'm fortunate that I have friends like Selco and Toby, who have been through situations of extreme unrest, martial law, and even the breakdown of societies.
