Dear john,

On Valentine's Day, everybody deserves to know that they are loved--especially our veterans who sacrificed to serve our nation. I want to thank every student and family across our district who joined me in sending cards to Georgia veterans. Thanks to our efforts, we delivered over 2,800 cards to the Atlanta VA Medical Center this week!

Next week will be a District Work Period, so Congress will not be in session. Before I left Washington this week, I reintroduced the Justice for Murder Victims Act. This legislation would remove the "year-and-a-day" rule which prohibits a defendant from being held accountable for murder if their victim dies more than a year-and-a-day after the date of their assault. Senator Jon Ossoff leads companion legislation in the Senate. To learn more, see this press release from my office.

Because of the tremendous response from young students via my Valentines for Veterans initiative, I want to remind you all about my Congressional Art Competition, which launched last week! This annual program allows local students to showcase their artistic talents and engage with schools across the district. To learn more about the competition guidelines and key dates, including the April 21st submission deadline, please visit https://mcbath.house.gov/art-competition.

There are more ways than ever to keep up with my work in Washington and back here at home! To follow me on Bluesky, you can find me @mcbath.house.gov.
