John, Trump is selling out America to his billionaire backer Elon Musk.

Although Trump is still enjoying the pomp and circumstance of the American Presidency, attending the Super Bowl and commanding press attention, Elon Musk is really running the show.

An unelected billionaire who has largely made his fortune through government contracts with NASA, USAID, and the Defense Department, is now in charge of our government’s spending.

Trump and a Republican Congress didn’t even bat an eyelash when Elon and his DOGE interns gained access to the Treasury Department’s payment system. The system is responsible for almost every government payment made including Social Security, Veteran benefits, Medicare benefits, federal salaries, tax refunds, and more.

It’s a not-so-hostile takeover, since Elon has received little pushback from Trump and his minions in Congress. We face a government with no checks and balances that now serves not the American people - but the private interests of Elon Musk and Trump’s other billionaire backers.

Trump and Republicans are allowing an oligarchy to rise from the ashes of our democracy, unless we do something to stop them.
