Hi there,

I want to thank everyone who joined Team Sharice last month and helped us surpass our goals.

Now more than ever, we’re relying on our communities for support. And communities of color across the country are hurting right now. I share in their pain and frustration over the injustices that have long afflicted our nation.

A week ago today, yet another Black man, George Floyd, was killed. This is a painful reminder that even as people of color in this country bear the brunt of the coronavirus crisis, both in terms of health outcomes and economic impact, the deep-rooted racism that has always plagued our communities continues to put people like George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery in peril.

For centuries, an unjust system has oppressed Black people in America – but that has never silenced them. We’re seeing people in Kansas and across the country raise their voices and speak out against these inequalities. We all must listen and commit to doing the hard work of creating a more equitable and just society – one that lives up to the highest ideals we expect of our nation.

I stand in solidarity with the Black community, today and every day.

Sharice
