This is how the Trump administration functions: they threaten our allies and closest trading partners, then get scared when markets drop, and then they back off. It’s theater. There is no clear plan for President Trump’s disastrous policies, but the uncertainty remains, and working families will bear the brunt of it.

And this week’s announced tariffs on steel and aluminum only serve to further undermine our workers and businesses. Tariffs should be a tool to level the playing field for American workers and businesses, not a weapon to settle political scores.

I’m pulling every lever I can to fight back against dangerous trade policies that hurt American families, and I’m calling on my colleagues across the aisle to join me.
