We are barely a month into Donald Trump's second term, and he – along with unelected co-president Elon Musk – is causing untold harm to our federal government and national security. I'm asking you to weigh in on a strategy to fight back, and here's why:

Just the other day, the world continued to witness who is truly calling the shots from the White House. As Elon Musk and Donald Trump held a press conference from the Oval Office, the latter subdued at the Resolute Desk focused on Musk’s 4 year old son – inexplicably present – with the former commanding the room.

Across the federal government, Musk has installed immature, unscreened, and unqualified minions with dangerous levels of access to systems and data. He is also leading the charge on an unhinged slash-and-burn agenda, targeting the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Consumer Financial Protection Board, the FBI, the CIA, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Education, and USAID…to mention just a few on the list. No level of our government is safe from the unelected billionaire Trump has enthroned at the heart of power.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has appointed dangerous and unqualified Cabinet Secretaries – elevated to power by complicit Senate Republicans – who are already implementing Trump's agenda of revenge. Inspector generals have been fired, Jan. 6 insurrectionists pardoned, and the FBI is being purged of senior law enforcement officials. On top of all that, Trump appears to be bowing down to blood-thirsty dictator Vladimir Putin, undercutting the safety and security of Ukraine and our European allies.

All of this and more has happened in just under a month and the chaos is unlikely to cease. But we must not be caught flat-footed and dizzy. We must fight back. As I told Nicolle Wallace recently on MSNBC, I am committed to fighting back as fully as possible against this Musk-Trump agenda (which, as we expected, is straight out of the Project 2025 blueprint). I've made it clear that I'm willing to put holds on Trump's nominations when they harm the American people and make us less safe.
