As you have surely seen, peaceful protests are being organized across the country to fight injustices that have plagued our communities for too long. This new wave of dissent began after George Floyd, an unarmed Black man, was killed by a police officer in Minnesota. George was handcuffed and lying on the ground yelling, “I can’t breathe!” but the officer never stopped applying pressure to his neck.
Now, protesters are putting their lives and freedom on the line to ensure that the officers involved in George Floyd’s death are held accountable and face criminal charges. As you might have heard, some protestors are being detained despite their commitment to protesting peacefully. We must step up and support these brave individuals who are peacefully speaking out against injustices like police brutality against Black Americans. [[link removed]]
Over 38 community bail funds across the country — including the Mississippi Bail Fund Collective — are working to provide resources to those detained while protesting. These community bail funds need our support as they continue providing resources to those using their voices to combat grave injustice in our communities.
Please consider donating $5, or whatever you’re able to give, to support over 38 community bail funds supporting peaceful protests across the country. Your contribution today could have a major impact on the fight against injustice in our country. [[link removed]]
