In times like this, it’s important to remember why we’re in this fight. Today I want to tell you a story about my brother and his impact on my life.

A few years after my parents had me, they decided to adopt my younger brother David. David was born 10 weeks premature and spent the first two years of his life in and out of hospitals.

My parents received a medical bill over 100 pages long. If it weren’t for my dad’s health insurance, we would have been in huge trouble. It was very scary and even at that age I knew something was terribly unfair.

That fear and anger at our healthcare system came to a head a few years later. When I saw my hometown Republican Congressman vote to take healthcare away from people like my brother, I knew I had to do something about it.

So I decided to run against that Republican. And I won.

That feeling of having to actually do something to fix the system still drives me today. Our healthcare system is still leaving millions behind, and I’m terrified of what RFK Jr. or Elon Musk are going to do to make it even worse. This is what’s at stake right now for our families. I’m ready to once again step up and fight back.

I wanted to share this story so you know why I do this work. And why it’s so important that we keep fighters in Congress. If you’d consider chipping in to help me fight back, I’d appreciate it.

As for David, he’s doing great! I even had the chance to speak at his college graduation from Stan State.
