I wanted to make sure I reached you this weekend. Initial race ratings from the Cook Political Report were released, and West Michigan is once again one of the most competitive regions in the country as we head toward 2026.

You may think it’s a bit too early to be fundraising for next year, but it’s never an off-year in a historically red district like ours. As we navigate the Trump administration’s clear attempts to disrupt critical infrastructure, they’re not losing sight of upcoming elections, so neither must we.

The Cook Political Report has released its initial race ratings for the upcoming election cycle, and MI-03 is listed among the most competitive races in the country.

In 2022, we made history and flipped a 50-year Republican stronghold, and last year, we held our ground. But in a historically RED region like ours, we can’t take anything for granted – and we know that Republicans are already targeting this seat. We already have TWO Republican opponents lining up to take this seat and keep control of the House. If we want to hold the line here in West Michigan, we need to start building a strong foundation right away.
