Friend –
Last week, a federal judge in Florida sentenced a man to more than two years in prison for repeatedly threatening Jena and other public officials. This sentencing is a critical step in ensuring that those who attempt to intimidate election officials are held accountable.
The individual pleaded guilty to multiple counts of interstate transmission of threats after sending over 100 threatening messages to various public figures. Between April 2022 and April 2024, he targeted Secretary Griswold with violent, misogynistic threats related to her role in the legal battle over Donald Trump’s eligibility to be on Colorado’s primary ballot.
"Threats to try to intimidate election officials are unacceptable. It’s important that threats like these are taken seriously and that bad actors are charged for their actions."
Jena Griswold
Since the 2020 election, Jena has received thousands of violent threats. This case reinforces the importance of protecting elections officials who uphold the principles of our democracy.
