Email from 40 Days for Life FOUR in one city! John, If there's a theme to this 40 Days for Life campaign so far, it's the abortion industry imploding in America's most abortion-friendly states. In just nine days, we've seen a wave of abortion facilities closing in Illinois and Planned Parenthood circling the drain in New York. Today's big news comes from California, where Sacramento has set a new record as the only city in the world where FOUR abortion facilities have closed following a 40 Days for Life campaign! The Family Planning Associates abortion facility actually closed more than a year ago, but online search listings indicated that the closure was temporary. However, we can now confirm that the abortion business is gone for good! "After many years, prayers have been answered!" wrote Wynette, who was the first person to sign up to lead a 40 Days for Life campaign when the movement went national back in 2007. Sacramento is now home to closed abortion facilities numbers 30, 34, 86, and 162--and vigil participants are already praying for the next one to go out of business! Cincinnati, Ohio The Queen City held its first 40 Days for Life campaign 17 years ago, and it continues to build momentum. Last year, Cincinnati increased vigil coverage to 24 hours a day for the first time! "Congratulations to Adam and John for organizing the night hours of 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. each day," wrote Mary, the leader. "At my last count, 78 men and one lady have committed to [overnight hours to] help us complete our second 24-hour prayer commitment." Mary will expand her team's effort again as Cincinnati begins holding year-round vigil as a 40 Days for Life 365 location next month! Zhongli, Taiwan Most 40 Days for Life campaigns take place in countries with a large Christian population--or at least a strong Christian heritage. That's not the case in Taiwan, where Christians remain a tiny fraction of the populace. The lack of Christian influence is made apparent by a society in which more babies are aborted than born. But the 40 Days for Life team in Zhongli is pursuing the campaign with a missionary mentality. "This is our fourth year of 40 Days for Life in Taiwan," wrote the local leaders. "Only prayer and action can save many lives and souls!" When Herod realized that he had been deceived by the magi, he became furious. He ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had ascertained from the magi. --Matthew 2:16 Lord, we pray that you bless all lawmakers with the courage of the magi. We ask that you bestow wisdom and good judgment on those who serve in government. Give them the strength to do what is right and the courage to risk their careers to protect the unborn. Help them to use their positions of authority to cherish and defend life in America. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
