Dear Ward 8 Residents,
We are experiencing trying times in our nation and within our city. This morning, Mayor Bowser ordered a 2-day citywide curfew starting this evening at 7 p.m. This order follows days of protests that have resulted in fires and destruction of small businesses and city properties.
Even with bad actors, there is good news to be celebrated. The walk-up testing site on F Street, NW, between 4th and 5th Streets, NW, is now open and no appointment is needed for residents to receive a test. In addition, the testing facility previously located at the United Medical Center has relocated to 2241 Martin Luther King Jr., Avenue, SE. This center is both a drive-thru and walk-up site.
The new and relocated testing sites have allowed for ample testing with rapid results. Today, 56 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported, bringing the total number of positive cases to over 8,800 cases with two Washingtonians succumbing to the virus.
Stay informed by visiting https://coronavirus.dc.gov for the latest updates. I am proud to serve the residents of Ward 8, continue to be safe.
Regards,
Trayon White, Sr.
Councilmember, Ward 8
