It is my honor to invite you to a special briefing by Ambassador James Jeffrey, the United States’ Special Representative for Syria Engagement and Special Envoy to the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS. In his current assignment, Amb. Jeffrey serves as the United States' most senior official responsible for Syria policy.

Amb. Jeffrey will take this opportunity to provide an update on the administration’s implementation of the Caesar Act, explain the current US Syria policy, share his analysis of recent developments, and what he expects to see in the near future.

Prior to his current assignment, Amb. Jeffrey served as Deputy National Security Advisor (2007–2008); United States Ambassador to Iraq (2010–2012); United States Ambassador to Turkey (2008–2010); and United States Ambassador to Albania (2002–2004). In 2010 Jeffrey was appointed to the highest rank in the U.S. Foreign Service, Career Ambassador. From 1969 to 1976, Jeffrey was a U.S. Army infantry officer, with service in Germany and Vietnam.

This briefing is open to all members of the Syrian-American community and advocates and allies in the struggle for a Free Syria. The briefing is co-hosted by Americans for a Free Syria and Syrian American Council.
