Here in Pennsylvania, we take care of our veterans. In two years, Josh Shapiro has invested almost $1.2 million to help veterans overcome employment barriers and secure family-sustaining careers. In addition, he’s made housing for veterans a top priority in his administration.

But in Washington, extreme politicians are doing everything they can to make life harder for our nation’s heroes.

Let’s be clear: Slashing 80,000 VA workers when the agency is already understaffed will cause immense, irreparable harm to veterans in Pennsylvania and across the country.

Through their sacrifice, these veterans have earned a lifetime of high-quality care. But now, the Trump Administration wants to slash critical support for veterans — all to pay for the costs of their $4.5 trillion tax giveaway to the ultra-wealthy.

John, there are more than 700,000 veterans in Pennsylvania alone — but by gutting their care, President Trump is turning his back on our nation’s heroes. This senseless crusade against the VA is wrong, it’s shameful, and it needs to end.
