John,
What a difference a day makes.
Yesterday, on a near party-line vote, the House of Representatives voted to do the bidding of Donald Trump and pass a 6 month continuing resolution (CR) that would enable Elon Musk’s attacks on our government to continue, while flat-funding and cutting critical human needs programs.1
But, just now, Senate Democrats voted to block this same government funding bill―on the heels of Vice President JD Vance pledging that the administration will continue illegally impounding congressionally allocated funds.2
Our pressure is working! We’re pulling out all the stops―sending thousands of messages to members of Congress, directly lobbying our allies on Capitol Hill, and convening hundreds of advocates―in order to make sure this CR doesn’t pass the Senate in its current form.
Can you rush a donation today so we can keep the pressure on the Senate to stand strong against this disastrous Republican funding bill that does nothing to rein in the illegal firings of government employees and freezing of already-allocated funds?

The latest federal agency to feel the buzz of Elon Musk’s chainsaw is the Department of Education. The Trump administration announced last night that it is laying off 1,300 of the department’s 4,000 employees and closing 5 of its 12 civil rights offices across the country.3 The Office of Civil Rights in the Department of Education was one of the largest enforcers of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and had 550 employees in offices across the country. Katie Dullum, an Office of Civil Rights deputy director who resigned last week said:
“This is devastating for American education and our students. This will strip students of equitable education, place our most vulnerable at great risk and set back educational success that for many will last their lifetimes. The impact will be felt well beyond this transitional period.”
What’s happening to the Dept. of Education and other federal agencies will continue as long as this CR is passed by both chambers of Congress and is sent to Donald Trump’s desk.
Keeping funding at 2024 levels also amounts to a cut due to the increasing need and increasing costs for essential programs. This is why we must keep up the pressure on the Senate and tell them to reject a spending package that includes drastic cuts to human needs programs and that allows Elon Musk to continue his extreme agenda of gutting the federal government.
Rush a donation of $5 now to fight back against Musk’s attacks on our federal agencies.

P.S. You can also send a message to the Senate urging them to reject any spending bill that includes drastic cuts to human needs programs and that would allow Trump and Musk’s reign of chaos to continue.
