Excellent Turnout + Powerful Testimonies

We're in awe of our movement. Over 450 people registered for the People's Hearing last week!

So many of you gave amazing testimony against fracked gas pipelines and in favor of renewable solutions. The entire hearing video ([link removed]) has been filed now on the public record in the proceeding ([link removed]) regarding National Grid's proposal to expand the "Iroquois" Pipeline in Greene and Dutchess counties, to pump more fracked gas under the Long Island Sound into National Grid and Con Ed's network in Long Island and NYC, plus expand Liquefied "Natural" Gas vaporizers in North Brooklyn. We know not everyone got to testify. If you still have something to say, stay tuned for more ways to make your voice heard. The People’s Hearing isn’t over!

The decision on National Grid's proposal is likely to be made at the PSC Monthly meeting on June 11.

However, we also know there is an option on the table that would NOT include more fracked gas on our dime: renewable options including energy efficiency, demand response and heat pumps. We must make this THE issue for The PSC's June 11 meeting.

Here are four follow up steps:

1. Watch the video of the People's Hearing ([link removed]) and read the Renewable Heat Now press release ([link removed]) about the People's Hearing!

2. File YOUR comment!

3. Follow Renewable Heat Now on Twitter ([link removed]) to re-tweet people's testimonies all week!

Here's the testimony that kicked off the public comment portion of the People's Hearing ([link removed]) .

And please record YOUR own comment Tweet. Be sure to tag @NYGovCuomo @NYSDPS @NYSDEC @NYCMayorsOffice!

4. Tuesday, June 2 @7pm: Join the Film Premiere about the North Brooklyn Pipeline ([link removed]) .

This pipeline and LNG expansion will be a litmus test of whether our state will follow our climate law, the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, and address the climate crisis with the leadership that we need NOW!

Thank you for participating in this urgent fight to transition New York State off fossil fuels.
