Hi John,
Despite the growing threats we face at the national level, Connecticut Democrats remain laser-focused on delivering real results for our communities here at home. We’re fighting for policies that lower costs, strengthen education, and protect our fundamental rights.
Lowering Costs & Holding Utilities Accountable:
* Connecticut residents face some of the highest energy costs in the nation. Democrats in our General Assembly are advocating for stronger utility oversight of utility companies and to provide ratepayer relief through legislation for customer tax credits, adoption of smart meters, multi-state compacts to negotiate better rates, and more.
Expanding Access to Education:
* Every child deserves a strong start. Governor Ned Lamont has unveiled a historic plan to make pre-K free for families earning under $100,000. This initiative aims to create 20,000 new preschool spaces by 2032 and reduce costs for approximately 19,000 existing slots, ensuring that early education is accessible and affordable for all Connecticut families.
Protecting the Freedom to Read:
* As extreme Republicans ramp up their efforts to censor books, Connecticut Democrats have introduced the "Don't Ban Library Books Act" to prevent the exclusion or censorship of books in public and school libraries, which emphasizes the importance of protecting librarians and ensuring families have access to a diverse range of literature, stating that librarians shouldn’t be attacked for doing their jobs.
Progress requires leadership and action. Here in Connecticut, Democrats are leading the way.
