Dear friend,
March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate the achievements of women in Massachusetts and across the country—past and present—who have shaped history and continue to drive progress.
From Deborah Sampson, who courageously disguised herself as a man to fight in the Revolutionary War, to Abigail Adams and her early advocacy for women's rights, to suffragists like Lucy Stone and Susan B. Anthony, Massachusetts has long been home to trailblazing women who have paved the way for future generations.
Today, I am honored to serve alongside history-making women like Governor Maura Healey, the nation’s first openly lesbian governor, Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, part of the first all-women team to lead a state, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, the first Black woman elected to Congress from Massachusetts, and Senator Elizabeth Warren, the first woman to represent our Commonwealth in the U.S. Senate. Their leadership—and the work of so many others—continues to break barriers and inspire change.
But while we celebrate progress, we also recognize that the fight for gender equality is far from over. Women’s rights are under attack like never before—from efforts to roll back reproductive freedoms to persistent pay inequities and barriers in the workplace. That’s why I have been steadfast in my commitment to advancing policies that empower and protect women.
I proudly co-sponsored the Women’s Health Protection Act to safeguard access to reproductive healthcare, and I have championed legislation to close the gender pay gap and expand economic opportunities for women. With extremists in the GOP emboldened by Trump’s election, we must remain vigilant in defending the rights that generations of women fought to secure.
Friend, I invite you to stand with me in this struggle. Can I count on your support as I continue to fight for women's rights and gender equality in Congress? Together, we can ensure that every woman has the freedom, opportunity, and equality she deserves. [[link removed]]
