“Social Security Administration leadership is under instruction to… cut its staff by half” ^[1]

Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s reckless crusade against the Social Security Administration is already making life harder for seniors and families.

Because of Trump’s cuts, wait times for basic phone service have grown, in some cases by several hours. Delays in reviews of disability claims are already starting. And phone backups are even preventing Social Security staff from processing retirement claims.

Today, this unnecessary dysfunction is forcing Kansans to jump through more hoops just to access the Social Security benefits they’ve earned.

I understand how critical Social Security is to Kansas seniors. Every month, over 600,000 Kansans rely on this program to pay their bills, put food on the table, and retire with dignity.
